According to eyewitnesses, the hoodlums came in a brown-coloured Lexus 300 Jeep and immediately opened fire on the people.

Nibo community in the Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State boiled on Sunday as an unknown number of persons were shot and feared killed by gunmen at Oye Nwochichi market near the Community Old Maternity.

Ikenga continued, stating that Nnaghe Itam, the State Commissioner of Police, had issued an order deploying police officers to the area and urged witnesses to provide information so that appropriate action could be taken.As a result of a possible cult-related altercation that occurred in Nibo, Awka South LG, on October 20, 2024, the Commissioner of Police, CP Nnaghe Obono Itam, has directed the immediate deployment of additional officers to the area in order to take the appropriate action.”The Command is requesting witnesses to this incident to volunteer information that will help to identify the perpetrators for possible arrest,” he said, adding that “preliminary reports of the incidents are still sketchy.”

Eyewitnesses reported that the thugs arrived in a brown Lexus 300 Jeep and started shooting at the people.Despite the fact that the exact number of people shot dead has not yet been determined, locals reported that at least ten bodies have been found thus far.Tochukwu Ikenga, the state’s police spokesman, confirmed the attack and revealed that it was a conflict between rival cults.
