According to reports, soldiers stationed at the Ojo Cantonment Barracks fatally stabbed Inspector Saka Ganiyu, a policeman.

The incident started when police stopped a soldier at the Volks Bus Stop on the Ojo-Iyana Iba Road for operating an unregistered T4 Volkswagen bus against traffic.After a confrontation with the officers, the out-of-uniform soldier requested additional support, according to PUNCH Online.Inspector Ganiyu was hurt when soldiers from the adjacent Ojo Cantonment stormed the scene and attacked the police officers.

The officer passed away from his wounds despite being taken to the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital immediately for emergency care. An autopsy will be conducted on his body, which has been placed in the hospital mortuary.

According to reports, the responsible soldier has been taken into custody by the Commander of the 9 Brigade at Ikeja Cantonment. The soldier’s identity is still unknown, though. SaharaReporters attempted to contact Benjamin Hundeyin, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, for a statement, but he did not return calls or messages.
