Edo Residents Await Governorship Election Results Amid Claims of Victory and INEC’s Warning

Edo residents are on edge as the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) prepares to announce the results from Saturday’s governorship elections. Several political parties have already laid claim to victory based on preliminary uploads on INEC’s IReV portal.

On September 22, INEC emphasized its authority to review results declared under duress, as stated by National Commissioner Mohammed Haruna. The commission confirmed that voting results have been uploaded and collated from all local government areas, with state-level collation set to begin soon.

INEC reiterated its adherence to the Electoral Act 2022, highlighting that accredited party agents, observers, and the media would have unhindered access to collation centers. The commission urged security agencies to maintain vigilance as the electoral process unfolds.
