Some South Africans have started a new trend of requesting e-hailing services in Nigeria, but unfortunately, it ended up being a prank and wasted the drivers’ time.

In the disturbing prank, termed the “Request in Nigeria” challenge, the South Africans would request and book Uber and Bolt rides.

However, while the drivers are in transit or get to the locations, the trips get cancelled, thereby wasting the drivers’ time and fuel.

Nigerians and some sane South Africans, have expressed outrage over the prank, describing it as vile and cruel.

“Y’all spend all day and all night thinking of Nigerians in Nigeria. This is a scary kind of obsession that you South Africans have with Nigerians. Do you think this is normal behaviour? This is mental illness. You are going crazy over a country thousands of miles away,” one Haffy wrote.

Amara Nwankpa: “Xenophobia harms random, innocent people”

“Ok, I know this needs to be said but I actually never thought it was possible to hate a country and people from that country this much. Every other day I’m justified in my hatred. What sort of cruel and miserable human being does this stuff

Jade: This time around you’re targeting the Nigerians minding their own business in their own country? You can’t even use the excuse that it’s cuz they’re illegal in your country. They’re in their own country yet you’re doing this. Later you’ll deny the xenophobia when accused.”

Thabiso, a South African wrote: This is behind wrong. This guy is in his own country trying to make an honest living. Is your beef not with the illegal immigrants in South Africa Kanti? There’s nothing funny about this, you are a horrible person.”
